Not every immigrant hopes to stay in the U.S. forever. Count Mariano Garcia as one who wants to put in an honest day’s work in exchange for pay that will allow him to return to his native land and bring better circumstances to his family there. Garcia works at a shop that sells clothing, shoes, luggage and other items at the Broadway Trade Center on the 800 block of S. Broadway. Garcia’s boss, Mary Ngyuen, says he works hard and keeps a sharp eye on the merchandise that sits on the patio outside the store. Garcia also has his eye on the state of Oaxaca in Mexico, where his wife and children still live. He wants to go back and raise his family there, and hopes the job on Broadway will help him get there. The Garment & Citizen wishes him the best, and we appreciate his commitment to working hard while he’s here in Los Angeles (see related Commentary, home page).
