It might seem to a lot of folks in the local garment industry that business has come to a standstill, but Oscar Angulo is living proof that the trade is alive and fighting through these tough times. Angulo is a native of Lima, Peru, who serves as the production manager for Frankie Fashions, where he keeps track of all the various aspects of getting garments made. Angulo lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Alicia Guzman, and their son, Roberto. He’s been in the U.S. for 28 years, and has worked his way up in the garment industry with on-the-job training. Angulo says that he enjoys working for his boss, Frankie Marchionda, and likes his responsibilities as production manager because the job presents different challenges every day. The garment industry is facing more challenges than usual amid the current economic slump, but there are still plenty of folks like Angulo and Marchiando doing their best to get through it, which ought to give everyone a ray of hope.
