Lydia Choi is one of the business owners who make Broadway special. Choi owns Mikado, a restaurant located at the southwest corner of Olympic & Broadway, where customers can choose from a full menu of fine dishes. The native of Seoul, South Korea, says she likes the restaurant business because she enjoys serving others, and also believes that her efforts to use natural ingredients in her various dishes and sauces is important to the health of the community. The current economic slowdown has even the best of businesses running slow these days, so Choi has come up with a way to help the people of Downtown and maybe her own sales: She’s offering customers free international phone calls to Mexico, South Korea, Japan and a number of other countries. Callers can talk for up to 15 minutes, according to Choi, who says she hopes the offer will create a “win-win” for her and her customers this holiday season.
