A Chance to Fight Back Against Recession

The Downtown Center Business Improvement District (BID) is hoping to join with similar organizations and interested business owners in an effort to fight back against the economic downturn with a new marketing campaign based at the historic Wurlitzer Building on Broadway. The proposal calls for the creation of a Downtown Los Angeles Marketing Center (DLAMC) in a ground-floor space of the Wurlitzer Building, located at 816 S. Broadway. The plan is to invite area business owners to pay a fee for representation at the center, with a menu of prices expected to be based on the amount of space or materials any individual enterprise wants to make available to visitors. A meeting to gauge interest among local business owners is scheduled for 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at the Wurlitzer Building, and anyone interested can call (213) 624-2146 or send an e-mail to rkaber@downtownla.com to reserve a seat or obtain more information. Free parking will be available at the Joe’s Parking lot at 817 S. Spring Street, which is located at the back entrance of the Wurlitzer Building.
