Showtime at Pershing Square

Where the Ice is Nice: That’s Pershing Square at 5th and Hill Streets, home of Downtown on Ice. It’s an annual celebration built around the outdoor skating rink, and visitors are welcome to twirl around to their heart’s content. They can also hear lunchtime concerts from various bands and performers every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. between now and January 19. There’s a selection Sunday concerts planned, too, set for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekly through January. The upcoming Winter Holiday Festival will feature everything from Christmas Tree decorating to children’s crafts, and there’s a bunch more festivity planned as well—enough to make Pershing Square worth a visit anytime this holiday season. Most of the entertainment is provided free of charge, and visitors can skate for $6 (with skates for rent at $2). It’s all brought to you by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and a host of sponsors. Call (213) 847-4970 or visit laparks.org on the Internet for more information on Pershing Square’s holiday lineup.
