Garment & Citizen to Increase Circulation by 33%
The Los Angeles Garment & Citizen has increased its circulation by
33% and shifted its day of publication to Friday, effective January 6,
2006.
Some of the circulation gains have come in various areas of Downtown,
adding to the Garment & Citizen’s long-established distribution
system. Significant increases have also been achieved in areas adjacent
to Downtown, including Echo Park, Angeleno Heights, Silverlake,
Westlake, Pico-Union and South Los Angeles. The increases include home
delivery in several areas.
The moves boost the Garment & Citizen’s circulation to 10,000 and
its readership to more than 25,000 weekly, based on the “pass-along
rate?determined by the California Newspaper Publishers Association
(CNPA). A pass-along rate reflects the fact that more than one person
typically reads each individual copy of a newspaper. The CNPA has
determined that 2.7 people read each copy of a weekly newspaper, on
average.
“Our circulation area has been expanding over the past five years,
meeting growing demand within Downtown and in neighboring districts,?
said Garment & Citizen editor and publisher Jerry Sullivan.
“Downtown and the neighborhoods that surround the city’s center enjoy
strong links because so many people work or shop Downtown and live in
Echo Park or Silverlake, Westlake or Pico-Union or South Los Angeles.
And now we have growing numbers of people who live Downtown and dine
and shop in surrounding neighborhoods. In any case, the Garment &
Citizen has become popular in all of these neighborhoods, and this
latest expansion will help us meet the demand of the marketplace.?br>
